Postcard
Tree This piece was originally conceived for and commissioned by the Brighton Festival. The work is constructed using hundreds of die-cut, cardboard leaves. The leaves are, in fact postcards with the postage paid, they slot together to create a large organic form. Each leaf is picked at random by the viewer, contributing to its slow and erratic metamorphoses, which eventuates in its total deconstruction and migration. A major aim of the work was to involve the passer by, and for them to subsequently enjoy the practical function of the piece. The tactile and inquisitive nature of the design helps the viewer appreciate the concept behind it. Fundamentally the leaves promote a positive social function and serve as a powerful advertising vehicle for any given company. Material: Cardboard Dimensions: Tree - 1m x 2m Postcard - 130mm sq |
