Sioban’s work spans 2D and 3D design; the boundary between these areas is evidently of particular interest to her. In Sioban’s 3D work she interacts with mass production and the industrial logic it requires in an unconventional way, exploiting imperfection and re-using existing products: Sioban has a keen focus on sustainability in design.
“My aim in design is twofold: it should be socially relevant and technically efficient; it should be visually and conceptually stimulating whilst remaining simple.”
Alongside the personal work featured on this site, Sioban has worked as a Designer and Prop Maker on projects for Harrods, Selfridges, Topshop and Anya Hindmarch to name a few. She was also invited to work at Landor Associates in the brand experience department and completed this placement in January 2007.
Sioban currently divides her time between building the Bisky Bat product family, freelance design work and assisting film photographer Murray Close. She has recently organised an exhibition of the stills from Withnail and I and a recording of BBC Radio 4's 'The Reunion' to coincide with the twentieth anniversary of the film; this was held at the BFI on London’s Southbank in October 2007.
